  • Provide basic medical care under the supervision of doctors and registered nurses 
  • Perform medical care tasks, including changing bandages and inserting catheters 
  • Monitor patient health

  • Report on patient status and concern to doctors and nurses

Individuals with their licensed practical/vocational nurse credentials often work with doctors and registered nurses in hospitals and physicians’ offices to perform important health care tasks.  

Licensed practical/vocational nurses are required to pass a state licensing exam in order to practice as a licensed practical/vocational nurse. On the job, this position requires integrity, dependability, attention to detail, concern for others and cooperation. 

Many individuals pursue further education, such as earning their registered nurse credentials or bachelor’s degree in nursing. 

 

The credentials you will earn ...

In the Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program, you will earn nationally recognized credentials and a state-issued credential/license. 

  • LVPN state certification 

Students should also earn a state-issued learner’s permit and driver’s license upon completion of the program. 

What you’ll need to start training ...

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent (can be earned at all Job Corps centers) 
  • Completion of all introductory and career preparation courses 
  • Passing scores on all written and performance tests 
  • Meet academic (math and reading) requirements 
  • Compliance with state requirements that may involve a criminal background check

Her education and experience in the field of nursing are the perfect complement to help her students with the roles, responsibilities and tasks to be performed in the field of practical nursing. Evanid’s skills allow her students to effectively learn the required health processes. Evanid promotes, assists and evaluates clinical practice for students in practice centers and simulated laboratories. She has a bachelor's degree in science industrial microbiology and in science, as well as certifications in oncology and epidemiology.
